Sunlight Solar Installed the Solar PV Awnings On Artspace Commons.
It was a hot summer day when we met the management team from Artspace Commons and Sunlight Solar. What a beautiful location they have created from a recalimed brown field.
This beautiful multi use complex specialises in office space for nonprofit organizations, retail and studio space for artists and resonably priced apartments.
Artspace has done a number of things that to help them get a LEED Gold status including a large solar thermal install for demestic hot water and building heat. They have also created solar photovoltaic awnings that use solar panels create electricity and as a passive solar shade to keep summer sun out of the units resulting in a cooler building. I love the creative use of green technoligy on this project. This is a must see during the Utah Solar Tour, make sure you add it to your calendar Sept 24th 2011.
