Reuse Water Bottles! What Did You Do Today To Help The Environment?
What can I do today to be more green? Reuse Water Bottles!
This is a question many people are asking themselves these days. RealGreenWorld has daily answers to this question. We asked Kelly Joseph CFO of Isaiah Industries (Parent company of our sponsors Classic Metal Roofing Systems, Kassel and Irons and Green American Home) what he does.
The first thing he did was to wake up in his house which has a brand new Green American Home roof. This is about the greenest roof under the sun, with a life expectancy of 50-100 years, a high recycled content and reflective paints that give it an Energy Star Rating Green American Home roofs are everything you could want in an eco friendly roof.
The next thing Kelly pointed out was that he reuses the same water bottle every day so that there is no waste from him drinking water. This is a great example of something simple you can do to help reduce your carbon footprint. Great job Kelly at living the principles Isaiah Industries is founded on!

RealGreenWorld Talks Restoration and how Saving Embedded Energy Can be Better Than Building Green.
We will be talking with Salt Lake Pediatrician Adam Stevenson and his wife (my cuz!) Chelsea about how they are restoring one of the oldest homes in Centerville Utah to preserve it. Many people think that the best thing to do to reduce your carbon footprint is to buy the “latest/greatest” green gizmo. Many times using something that already exists is much better for the environment. Embedded or Embodied energy is key to this. In order to manufacture anything it take energy.
If something is manufactured today it usually take more energy to produce than it did to make the same thing 100 years ago. Automation makes our lives easier but causes us to use a lot more energy to do what we used to do with our arms and backs. If something was built in 1912 not only did it take less energy to make but it has had one hundred years to amortize the embedded energy so it is often better for the environment. Using up something that is already is usually better than building something new and green.
